Make-a-Zine Workshop #7: Poliana Irizarry

Wednesday, Sep. 13
6:30pm - 8:30pm

The LGBTQ Youth Space is partnering with the South Bay DIY Zine Collective to bring you monthly zine workshops that will teach you how to make zines, give you the opportunity to tell your stories and ask veteran zinesters about their stories. We’ll have a different zinester each month to bring you a wide range of zine-making techniques and backgrounds.

The seventh installment features zine librarian Poliana Irizarry. We’ll be making collages from images and words in popular magazines to use as critical commentary on media representation of our cultures & communities.

Poliana Irizarry got into zines as a teen in the 1990s but didn’t actually finish any until after college. Co-founder of the #sbDIYzc, she’s hosted zine-making workshops for groups of all ages at DIY collectives, student clubs, coffee shops, bars, and academic & public libraries. You can find her zines at http://bibliophiliac.bigcartel.com/

South Bay DIY Zine Collective is a group of zinesters and zine lovers who maintain the zine collection at The LGBTQ Youth Space, bring zines to the community via our portable zine library, and host zine-making workshops around the South Bay Area. #sbDIYzc

Bring your stories, thoughts, ideas, etc and we’ll provide the materials!
