Make-A-Zine Workshop: Whitney Kitty

Wednesday, Jul. 19
6:30pm - 8:00pm

The LGBTQ Youth Space is partnering with the South Bay DIY Zine Collective to bring you monthly zine workshops that will teach you how to make zines, give you the opportunity to tell your stories and ask veteran zinesters about their stories! We’ll have a different zinester each month to bring you a wide range of zine-making techniques and backgrounds!

The fifth installment features Whitney Kitty!

“Hi I’m Whitney Kitty. I’m a California based artist currently residing in Santa Cruz! I currently do mostly illustration and drawing. A lot of themes within my work include themes of identity being a multi racial, POC, queer woman, relationships, and self love. If you want to connect, check out my instagram @whitneykittyart or email me at whitneykittyart@gmail.com

About “Using Art as a Form of Healing and Resistance”

Using Art as a Form of Healing and Resistance is a workshop that is designed to talk about themes of identity that one creates exploring how that can intersect with healing and resistance. Attendees of this workshop will be invited to discuss and come up with ideas about taking their own experiences that create their identity, empowering them to create something that is uniquely theirs.

This workshop is open to everyone. Because art by nature can be vulnerable, we ask that you remain respectful of the safe space and experiences that may be shared.” – Whitney

South Bay DIY Zine Collective is a group of zinesters and zine lovers who maintain the zine collection at the San Jose LGBTQ Youth Space, bring zines to the community via our portable zine library, and host zine-making workshops around the South Bay Area. #sbDIYzc

Bring your stories, thoughts, ideas, etc and we’ll provide the materials!
